Happy 4th of July!
Rabbit Run Cottage is all decorated for the weekend.

Jimmy doesn’t love dogs.
Mini Donkey’s see dogs as enemy, they are known to fight off Coyotes.
But Jimmy loves Dahlia, the Mini Dachshund.
Someone, who shall remain nameless, recently asked ‘why do you have a donkey?’.
Need I say anymore?

Sedum Red Carpet, was added to an edge of a garden bed last year,
and it has quickly become a favorite!

It’s time to hit up all the local garden centers for clearance plants.
I have the perfect spot to add one more Sedum to the edge of the garden.

Clay pots are affordable, practical and become more beautiful with age.
Over time they weather and absorb mineral salts from the soil.
If the conditions are right, a layer of green moss will adhere to the pot.
This shed at Snug Harbor Farm holds hundreds of their beautiful custom clay pots.

When you visit a garden center and pay just as much attention to the
weathered greenhouse doors as the plants and flowers; that’s me.
These are the doors that lead to the Shade Room at Terrain in Pennsylvania.
If only I could find this color at the paint store.

Lot’s of planting and pulling weeds this week as the garden gets going.
Remembering that I have garden aprons to lessen the dirt that I bring indoors,
I rummaged through the potting shed to find this linen apron.
I designed and sewed this apron for Country Gardens Magazine a couple of years ago.
The pattern and images appeared in the Fall issue of 2014.

It was a dream come true to travel to the Better Homes And Gardens Test Garden’s and
co produce the story with my friend Kate Carter-Frederick.
I ended up having to model for the story, and though I was in the most lovely gardens,
was completely out of my element!

This image looks simple enough.
I first held a watering can.
The pot was tilted many angles.
My shirt was unbuttoned-just one more!
The pot got really heavy!
They cropped this image-perfectly!

Always fun to see these woodland flowers among the pines.

The Cosmos are winding out of their pots.
I think they are looking for Spring.
With more cool weather expected,
it’s safer in the greenhouse.
