Paperwhite Narcissus Bulbs
All you need is a pretty bowl, some pebbles, a few bulbs and sunshine.
Paperwhites only need 3″ of root space and bring the water up to the root line.
Planted at Thanksgiving for December blossoms.
A family tradition.
life in and around the garden
I remembered yours from past years and purchased some bulbs. Thanks for the timely tips!
Just love having the green inside for the holidays!
When my kids were little we measured how fast the Paperwhites grew each day.
I love the Stella d’Oro ones, I think they smell better, but they are harder to find.
I will write that one down for next year, I love how the Paperwhites smell, but my husband not so much and my son hates them!
I’ve noticed that men dislike the smell, interesting isn’t it? Must be testosterone related! 😉
These are important garden traditions to pass on. We haven’t been forcing bulbs but have found plenty of other ways to brighten the place up https://diggingfordirt.wordpress.com/2015/11/01/the-artist-gardener/ Let us know what you think
Have they bloomed yet Stacey? I use to always plant them up too. But the two cats I now have are strictly indoors and they love digging in the plants or munching on them. I bought three tiny tropicals at my SIL’s flower shop for my fairy garden and before I could even get them in, they ate one of them into a stick. Maddening, since Petals then barfed. My own fault though, I should know better than to leave anything out unsupervised. Gah!
