Nothing changed my gardening more than raised beds.
The beds allow me to be able to control the soil type.
Drainage is greatly improved and soil temperature is increased for earlier planting in the Spring.
Natural compost is added to the beds in the Fall…I can measure exactly how much goes into each bed.
Weeding is easier! Now that may be the best benefit of all!
I do rotate crops from season to season.
Have you been raised up yet?

All is calm
Shiver day
With the temperature reading 9 degrees in the garden, I took shelter in Rabbit Run Cottage.
A place to escape the breeze that burns your skin.
A few treasures still sitting out on the little table, I really should pack these up for the Winter.
I think I will give the little shed some winter touches. Maybe a pinecone garland, and a little wreath.

The 500th Post
As the sun is setting on the garden this evening, I can’t help but reflect on the start of this garden and my little garden blog.
So much has come from this little spot on earth. Food for our family, beautiful flowers for our home, peaceful moments, and opportunities I had only dreamed of.
Thank you to all who have stopped by and taken the time to explore the garden.
Those who have left comments, I read and appreciate each and every one.
For those that have chosen to follow me…thank you.
Hugs garden friends.

Shhh, I’m hiding in here
Lost and Found
While cleaning up flower beds this Spring, it was clear my beautiful Butterfly Bush’s had not survived the Winter.
Last Fall I had planted just a few Liatris that I had started in the greenhouse. They have filled in the empty gaps and are going to be stunning in a few days….I love the purple against the grey-green colors of Rabbit Run Cottage.
Notice anything else? That hole in the porch post is missing it’s Flag. Lost in the storm.
Check back in the garden in a few days if you love purple!
