After a busy day in the garden,
I was glad to sit quietly and study the beautiful patterns
and colors of this large moth.

Incredible! At first I thought it was a leaf! It posed so nicely for you!
I too, didn’t quite know what it was–it stayed put while I went for the camera!
Thank you for stopping by my little blog. 🙂 Stacey
Stunning. It hasn’t been a great year here for butterflies and moths because of all the rain and their numbers are in decline anyway, partly due to loss of habitat and also climate change. I try to plant as many plants as possible that attract them to help a little, they’re such beautiful creatures.
I also thought it was aleaf, such a clever disguise! Lovely photo
What a beauty! There was a hummingbird moth on the patio yesterday, but he was gone before I could get the camera…
What a lovely photo! If that’s a Sphinx Moth (which it looks like it might be) it comes from a VERY hungry caterpillar. (DH just had the displeasure of nearly losing every single leaf on a baby pecan tree to one such caterpillar. It was bigger around than my thumb, and about as long.)
