Transform Shed Into Play or Garden House

Thank you to Old Village Paint for sharing the story of our little garden shed, Rabbit Run Cottage! So fun to look back!

I ran across this wonderful transformation story of an old ugly shed that became a beautiful playhouse, and thought you guys would enjoy seeing it.

You really should visit the blog Down To Earth Digs  and read the story of this playhouse, that eventually grew up into an adorable garden shed once her owner was a bit too old for a playhouse.

My two daughters have been begging for a playhouse, and I’m wondering if I could ask around the neighborhood, or on Craigslist, and see if I could find a shed to transform, instead of beginning from scratch.

Do you need a playhouse or garden shed?

What’s is your ‘must have’?

I learned how to grow Nasturtium while working at a small garden center.

Working in the greenhouse I was instructed to drop 5 seeds into each little 4″pot.

Within no time, the little lily pad leaves were emerging.

I loved how quickly they grew and their slightly messy, trailing vines.

That was the first year I planted Nasturtium in our window boxes.

I don’t believe I have missed a year since.

Nasturtium is one of my ‘must haves’.

What are yours?

I like to provide some nesting material for the birds.

1/4″ hardware cloth is easily cut and rolled to hold some natural cotton batting.

You can use wool or even add some colorful pieces of string.

Hang in a few of the trees for your feathered friends!

The Situation

Little critters moved into the greenhouse this winter.

Despite several attempts at location and eviction notices,

I couldn’t get more then a glimpse of the squatters.

Yes, I ran from the greenhouse with a few small screams, more then once!

Several times I brought in reinforcements.

My cats just lounged and cleaned their paws.

Last Saturday, the sun warmed to near 50 degrees and I announced it was ‘the day’,

I was going to find that mouse!

I bravely–stood on the little stool and poked at everything with a garden hoe.

Nothing moved, nothing scurried, no mouse.

Until I opened my toolbox!

How dare they–yes, they–take up residence in my toolbox!

Waiting for the next warm day to decontaminate EVERYTHING.

Think Happy Thoughts

I missed National Floral Design Day this weekend.

Even though I was a floral designer for, well, let’s just say many years….

I never heard of it before….or even celebrated it!

So in honor of this holiday…I’m posting these pretty bouquets that I designed for my daughter and her so, so pretty flower girl.

How lovely they looked standing among the confetti of the Catalpa Tree this past summer.
