Love the basket and the tomatoes. Enjoy them while you can. I just picked more tomatoes as well but the season is almost over as the temps are going down to 39 tonight.
Well used for your beautiful photos, as always. A friend gave me a whole bunch of tomatoes, and potatoes, yesterday. Cooked up a batch of tomato sauce yesterday to freeze. Any other suggestions for tomatoes? And, no, I don’t can, just freeze or eat fresh.
I love old baskets! I don’t can either– (wish I did), I freeze everything too!
I slow roast most of the tomatoes with a rough chop, sea salt, pepper, drizzle of olive oil and a few fresh herbs tossed on top. 270 degrees for 3 hours, turn off oven and let cool in oven…pull off the skins and slide the whole tray into freezer bag. It’s the perfect base for soups, stews, sauces, chili, etc. I freeze them flat, and after they are frozen I can stack all my bags of tomatoes neatly on the shelf. 🙂
