Hollyhocks have been a flower I have known since childhood.
I love this tall old fashioned flower standing in my garden.

A few years back, I received hollyhock seeds through Freecycle. They are beautiful flowers, but here in Sacramento, they easily get gobbled up by insects. Thanks for the inspiration. Maybe I’ll try planting them again, and watch more closely for pests.
So pretty, do you have to stake yours or are they sturdy enough to stand on their own feet? I really love the pink and lime green together.
I don’t stake things…I’m usually to busy or lazy!!! 🙂
I love the old fashioned mixed strain!
Yes, the old fashioned mixed colors!
How do you keep the bugs off them? I always have a problem with bugs on mine. I like them a lot, they make such a statement in the garden.
Agree, I had some bugs eat them all up, really like gone in a couple days! a couple of Summers ago. I just plant more! 🙂
haha good answer. Rose dust used to work well, but it has since been banned where I am.
