Wonderful photo!!
🙂 2 of my girls!
Nice.
Thank you–working on our visit to the North Shore at the end of the month. So excited, hope the trees have some nice color!
YAY CHICKENS!
Love that photo.
They were determined to hand out right where I was working!
Love chickens. They are so cute, even the one missing feathers.
The missing feather chicken is a Turken–they don’t have feathers on their necks or a ring around their shoulders! So ugly only their mama could love them! and I do!
I was not sure is a rooster did no get her. Glad to know they are supposed to look like that. I think she is cute.
Some of them are molting right now, and man are they “interesting” looking! But then they grow back and are all fluffly and pretty again!
I don’t keep a rooster anymore–I do miss them but when they turned on me they had to go!
I don’t like chickens (mean rooster chased and pecked me as a child), but I can appreciate a photo. Lovely work, as always.
I’ll make sure they are safely tucked in the coop when you visit–so you don’t worry!! and my mother was terrified of chickens due to the same event as a child! She would love my garden but not my chickens!
I love the layers of color and texture in your photo: chickens, perennials, sunflowers, cedar shingles, trees & sky! Just realized my layer pun! We had chickens years ago. I found out the hard way why our rooster was free – the previous owners were not kidding that he was aggressive… Kellogg got buried behind our outhouse because he got scarier and scarier!

Thank you for your kind words! Those darn roosters, It was kinda funny when they were chasing everyone else, and the day they turned on me–they had an appointment at the butcher shop! I do miss their prettiness, and the crowing believe it or not.
I bet they’re handy helpers to have around for just such tasks!
I’m about ready to let them loose on the “other garden”. I picked the last pumpkins yesterday, and the remaining garden is about spent. They will be very happy hens for a few days!
