Sun Bath

Sun Bath

Rosie has a ritual.
A good night sleep with her best buddy, Otto.
A morning run around the yard.
A pit stop in the house for tricks and treats.
A snuggle on the couch.
Back outside for a sun bath.
Love you yellow girl

What ducklings?

What ducklings?

The ducklings have grown up.
I have officially become “the duck lady”, with 14 ducks now waddling around the garden.
Pekin Ducks are quite low maintenance. Eat tons of bugs, and are less destructive then the chickens in the garden.
I have had a few offers to “take a couple of ducks”, but they were going to be “dinner”.
I just couldn’t do it!
They will be pets. Yes, the petting zoo grows.

The 500th Post

The 500th Post

As the sun is setting on the garden this evening, I can’t help but reflect on the start of this garden and my little garden blog.
So much has come from this little spot on earth. Food for our family, beautiful flowers for our home, peaceful moments, and opportunities I had only dreamed of.
Thank you to all who have stopped by and taken the time to explore the garden.
Those who have left comments, I read and appreciate each and every one.
For those that have chosen to follow me…thank you.
Hugs garden friends.

Age And Beauty

Age And Beauty

I always feel a little sad when I see a farm site sitting empty.

A once loved and lived in farmhouse with barns and sheds slowly leaning toward the earth.

I often stop to photograph these simple farm structures…they speak to me…sometimes they really do…sometimes a critter or two live in them!

The beautiful Creeping Virginia is trying it’s best to decorate this little shed for Fall.

Welcome October

Welcome October

I welcome the colors of Autumn to the garden.
This one blossom faded more quickly then the rest.
I thought the shades of brown were beautiful and rested it on a linen.
As the garden fades into Fall, welcome October.

Apple Season

Apple Season

It’s apple season!
The best decoration for the table, a bowl of beautiful apples.
“Eat an apple”, I remind my kids.
Apple Butter is cooked to spread on our toast all Winter long.
Thank you Johnny Appleseed.
