As the cold weather still hangs on, work around the garden remains on hold.
This leaves me pondering….
The fence needs to be stained again–should I change the color? I’m leaning to a slightly darker grey.
What should I plant on this North side of the garden?
It’s partly shaded–Perennials or more cutting flowers?
Dwarf Grey Sugar Pea
An Heirloom Pea–this is my favorite, and only pea I am growing this year. The plants grow to about 2 1/2 feet tall and I use willow sticks to stake the plants.
A beautiful blossom and plenty of sweet tender peas from this variety.
Time to start the Nasturtium seeds.
A tradition for me, I plant them every year.
I use to always plant them in containers, or a window box,
then I visited a lovely garden where the gardener had them meandering all along the edges of her Perennials.
One of those moments–“Why didn’t I ever do that?”
Now the Nasturtium meander around the edges of my garden.
A favorite of mine, the bees and the butterflies!
A member of the Mint family–it is trying to take over my perennial bed!
I will take the spade shovel to it this Spring–divide and share!

I crop rotate for disease control, and just because it keeps the garden interesting!
I love having Spiderwort in my gardens.
I find it beautiful and tolerant of weather conditions.
