Rain, Rain

Rain, Rain

The rain barrel is full, the yard spotted with little ponds.
The garden is holding it’s breath…waiting for the warming sun.
I know the green is about to burst from the landscape.

Searching for color to help brighten my spirits.
April is living up to it’s reputation, and bringing cool rain showers.
Can’t wait for the sun to shine brightly and the need to open my vintage garden umbrella.
May, I’m counting on you!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter

The garden is just beginning to wake up.
Today I searched for signs of life, fearful of what may not return after our long, harsh Winter.
Much to my delight…I saw the first bees of the season!
Welcome back my pollinating friends.

Plenty

Plenty

There will be plenty of Heirloom tomato plants!
The greenhouse is filled with a beautiful crop of plants for my little sale this Spring.
Herbs too….I can’t live without my herbs–you should have some too.
Spring is warming my soul, as I get the garden ready for company.

Don’t be fooled by this sunshine in the garden. The temperature is 25 degrees with a wind howling from the North. The snow has melted from the garden this past week, but the forecast is calling for more later this week.

The chickens are so happy the snow is disappearing, they showed their appreciation by laying a few eggs!
