The Other Greenhouse

The Other Greenhouse

We found this cute little greenhouse, at the end of season sale, from a local home improvement store.
It is such a cute little greenhouse!
It does a wonderful job, also nurturing my plants.
In fact, I use it to harden off plants from the larger greenhouse.
The rest of the season it is used for holding empty pots and gardening supplies.

This year I would like to give it a more permanent home in the garden and began planting around it.

And the list goes on…..

I don’t know?

I don't know?

I was recently asked “How big is your garden”?
It sits on the North side of our home, meandering East to West.
It really is just about the right size!
A place to start and nurture my plants, a kitchen garden, Rabbit Run Cottage, and a few places to sit and relax.
Even when we lived in little apartments early in our married life, I gardened in little pots…that was the perfect size too!
Yes, you heard it here–size doesn’t matter!

Piled High

Piled High

Winter has been an experience this season.
Morning chores to feed a horse, donkey, chickens and ducks, met me with a calm 30 degree temperature.
It feels warm, it feels like the cold has broken, it feels like Spring will come!
The snowdrifts are deep and covering everything. To get to the greenhouse I have to circle around to the back gate.
But the trudging is worth it!
A sanctuary just waiting to be filled with seedlings and plants.
It truly is my happy place.

Predictions of a late Spring

Predictions of a late Spring

The local radio station informed me the prediction is for a late Spring….it doesn’t come as a shock.
I have just woken to -15 degrees in the garden.
This year, more than ever, I will be grateful for our season change.

A Snow Day

A Snow Day

Blizzard conditions persist through the day today…of coarse I have bundled up and buried my self in garden magazine, books, blogs and Pinterest images.
You won’t find Winter pictures here on Down To Earth Digs…I’m protesting!
