A new year

A new year

Another year has rolled through in the garden.
How quickly the seasons slid from one to the next.
2013 was a year of extremes.
Snow and cold that did not want to end.
A Summer that came on hot and hotter.
Fall dropped in with cold, miserable weather.
And Winter, well it’s colder!
Happy New Year garden friends!

What shall I grow?

What shall I grow?

Seed catalogs have been arriving in the mailbox.
There are all ready lists of seeds to order.
What will I nurture in the greenhouse?
What will I repeat and what will I try new?
How will the kitchen garden be planted this year?

First Day Of Winter

First Day Of Winter

It has all ready been a long, cold, snowy Fall!
What will Winter bring?
As the seed catalogs come in the mail, I began to garden plan on paper, though It will be months yet before a seed is planted in the greenhouse.
January brings a long awaited special moment for this gardener.
Watch for our garden in the Early Spring issue of Country Gardens magazine.
Pick up a copy and let me know what you think!

The Celosia grown in the garden, dried in the greenhouse, and turned into a stunning wreath to brighten up the Winter backdrop.
This wreath will stay up through most of the Winter.  It’s like a cup of coffee for my eyes!
