First Day Of Winter
It has all ready been a long, cold, snowy Fall!
What will Winter bring?
As the seed catalogs come in the mail, I began to garden plan on paper, though It will be months yet before a seed is planted in the greenhouse.
January brings a long awaited special moment for this gardener.

When it warms up this week, I have a few garden chores to take care of.
Full Circle
The Celosia grown in the garden, dried in the greenhouse, and turned into a stunning wreath to brighten up the Winter backdrop.
This wreath will stay up through most of the Winter. It’s like a cup of coffee for my eyes!
Plenty of Thyme
My little Herb wreath I made this past Summer.
Dried and ready to flavor Winter meals.
Pinch a few sprigs and roll between your fingers.
My little Kitchen Garden has lived up to it’s name.
Timing
Each year I try to time the Amaryllis bulbs to open as close to Christmas as possible.
This bulb just began to show it’s pretty holiday red color…maybe this is the one for this year.
I tucked the pot into a vintage grain sack sleeve.
Paper Whites
The little star shaped blossoms sprouting from beautiful tall green stems.
When my kids were small we would measure them in the morning and at the end of the day.
They would grow sometimes as much as 3 inches in a day. They loved that little experiment.
Trying to slow down and enjoy the days leading up to Christmas.
Holiday Tradition
Paper Whites and Amaryllis bulbs bursting color into the cold, white landscape outside my window.
Oh Deer
I suffered my first car/deer collision this evening.
It was an awful feeling when the beautiful deer jumped right into the path of my car.
I was sad for the deer, but grateful for seat belts.
