Nothing changed my gardening more than raised beds.
The beds allow me to be able to control the soil type.
Drainage is greatly improved and soil temperature is increased for earlier planting in the Spring.
Natural compost is added to the beds in the Fall…I can measure exactly how much goes into each bed.
Weeding is easier! Now that may be the best benefit of all!
I do rotate crops from season to season.

A sweet little wreath I made from Thyme…
Tie bundles of thyme onto a wire form.
Hang in your kitchen and trim sprigs when you need to flavor your dishes.
This was last years crop of Purple Basil growing beautifully in the warm greenhouse.

I have several pairs of garden boots.
Basic black, bright colors, high boots, short boots.
Come Summer time, I’m usually happy with my well worn Converse.
I plant cutting flowers on both sides of the greenhouse each year. Zinnias are always a favorite.
It has all ready been a long, cold, snowy Fall!
What will Winter bring?
As the seed catalogs come in the mail, I began to garden plan on paper, though It will be months yet before a seed is planted in the greenhouse.
January brings a long awaited special moment for this gardener.

It’s hard to tell what’s hiding in there sometimes, and I find myself nearly standing on my head to pick tomatoes.
A new heirloom tomato for me this year.
Costoluto Genovese
This is a beautiful tomato that I will grow again!
An Italian, heat loving tomato.
Beautiful sliced, meaty and slightly tart.
Cooked it makes a rich sauce.
Today it will be made into a batch of salsa, as per the boys request!
